Mindenkit szeretettel várunk Todd Berliner amerikai vendégprofesszor filmes előadására 2012. március 27-én (kedden) 12 és 13.30 között a főépület 34-es termébe.

Az előadás angol nyelvű, címe: The Hollywood Aesthetic: Pleasure in Mainstream Cinema
Description: Hollywood movies are arguably the most widely successful pleasure-giving art objects the world has known. Film commentators have attributed the American film industry’s widespread commercial success to its reassuring ideologies, its accessibility, the international hegemony of the major studios, or to certain inherently appealing or marketable features, such as stars. Such explanations may account for why people find Hollywood movies merely diverting, but they do not account for the intensity and elation people feel when experiencing Hollywood movies they love. Moviegoers are often passionate about Hollywood movies, their engagement active and exhilarated.
Professor Berliner’s talk sets out to explain some of the principles and features that enable Hollywood movies to arouse exhilarating aesthetic experiences.

Brief Bio: Todd Berliner, Professor of Film Studies at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, teaches film aesthetics, film narration and American cinema. He is the author of Hollywood Incoherent: Narration in Seventies Cinema (University of Texas Press, 2010) and many articles and book chapters. Professor Berliner was the founding chairman of UNCW’s Film Studies Department and the recipient of two Fulbright Scholar awards. He is currently the László Országh Distinguished Chair in American Studies at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest.
